Pele's Fire

This painting was inspired by Kilauea (most active volcano on Earth) and Pele, Hawaiian Goddess of Fire and Volcanoes.

In Hawaiian culture, all natural forces are regarded as life forces, connected to humanity by the belief that we all descend from the same ultimate creative spirits. Pele is seen as the personification of volcanic majesty and power. She is respected for having the power to create new land and being compassionate for the land, its spirit and those who dwell on our planet. Yet, Pele is also seen as unpredictable and capable of releasing fiery explosions and destructive lava flows.

This painting reminds us of the tremendous power and beauty nature provides if only we take time to appreciate the wonders that it offers.
